As a 24 fan, I am holding my breath waiting for Fox’s Touch to premiere tomorrow night. I’m not sure what to expect, but I think it’s going to be hard to watch Keifer Sutherland and remember that he’s not Jack Bauer any more.
TV Guide’s Denise martin gives us this interview with Touch creator Tim Kring about the new show:

I’m going to try to put 24 out of my mind while watching Touch, because I just don’t think the new show is going to be able to win in comparison. Not that it won’t be great and all, but I had many years to hone my awe and respect of Jack Bauer. Martin Bohm had better be pretty awesome if he’s going to fill those shoes.

That interview was a little more insightful to how the show will feel. I think the whole Heroes thing humbled Kring in a big way. He had a good vision with Heroes, but he let it get away (possibly because of letters from teenage boys yelling “More Blondes”). I trust Kiefer’s acting to bring us out of the Bauer persona quickly.
And really, they don’t have to explain anything about the root of the boy’s power, people in the real world can do some incredible things already. I would leave that story aspect alone for a while. Thanks for the article S.
You’re welcome. I’m sure Kring learned a lot from his experience with Heroes. I expect to have a pretty tough time forgetting about Bauer, but I’ll give Kiefer the benefit of the doubt for the first couple of episodes!
